The Crossbar Mounted DEK does not include lights by default. A DEK Light Bar is available as an accessory. 

The Direct Vehicle Mount DEKs is available in lit versions with an integrated light bar developed with Diode Dynamics, or non-lit versions that can add the DEK Light Bar later if desired.

The DEK is designed to carry a wide variety of gear — cargo boxes, bikes, kayaks, skis, recovery gear, and general overlanding equipment. The integrated T-channels and adjustable crossbars make it easy to configure for different adventures.

The DEK features a low-profile design intended to reduce wind resistance and minimize noise compared to traditional racks. As with any roof system, noise levels can vary depending on vehicle, accessories, speed, and load.

Yes — The crossbar-mounted DEK is compatible with IBEX crossbars.

Yes — DEK is compatible with select Kuat rooftop accessories like the Piston SR roof bike rack, as well as other gear mounts designed for T-channels.

The Crossbar Mounted DEK requires crossbars. You can use factory or aftermarket crossbars — Kuat does not manufacture crossbars or towers.

The Direct Mount DEK installs directly to factory mounting points and does not require crossbars.

The light pods are integrated into a custom housing and are designed to project light over the hood with minimal glare. They are not intended to be individually repositioned.

Kuat offers a dedicated T-Nut Kit compatible with the DEK platform. Each T-nut features an M8 x 1.25 mounting thread and is designed to slide directly into the DEK’s integrated T-channels.

Customers can use their own M8 x 1.25 hardware with the appropriate bolt length to securely mount their desired accessories.

Yes — optional light pod covers are available as accessories for added protection or styling.

Rooftop tents can be mounted to the DEK, but the total allowable weight depends on your vehicle’s roof load rating. This includes the combined weight of the platform, tent, and any additional gear. Always follow the lowest-rated component in your system.

The DEK platform has a maximum load capacity of 300 lbs. However, your vehicle’s roof structure ultimately determines how much weight can be safely carried—both while driving (dynamic) and when parked (static).

Because vehicle roof ratings vary widely, we do not publish separate dynamic or static limits for DEK. Always follow your vehicle manufacturer’s roof load rating and use the lowest-rated component in your setup.
