The Pivot XD Tire Carrier mounts directly to the Accessory Hoop with MOLLE Panel (required) for the Pivot XD swing-away hitch rack. Carry a full-size spare tire up to 37 inches in diameter, giving you the confidence to handle cross-country travel and rugged overland terrain.

Built from rigid steel and finished in a premium matte powder coat, this tire carrier is engineered for durability and a clean look. Offered in three wheel fitments, it includes hardware for most 5, 6, and 8 lug configurations to ensure a secure setup.

CAPACITY

100 lbs maximum weight capacity

These accessories mount on top of the Pivot XD and do not reduce the rack’s total 350 lb capacity since they are positioned above the pivot. However, the weight installed on these accessories will contribute to the overall 350 lb limit for the Pivot XD.

If the MOLLE and tire mount are both loaded to their maximum capacities, the remaining rack or cargo installed into the Pivot XD is limited to 200 lbs.

The distance-to-weight rule (28"/40") applies to all racks or cargo installed into the Pivot XD receiver — excluding the MOLLE and spare tire accessories.

How to Measure Backspacing

  1. Place a straight edge against the inside of your tire
  2. Measure from the mounting flange of your wheel to the straight edge (edge of tire)
  3. Choose a mount size: The measured distance must be equal to or less than the mount depth.

The tire mount size you select must be greater than this depth. This is to ensure you have enough mounting space for the wheel and tire. For example, if the measured backspace is 175mm, the 200mm adapter is required, but the 250mm adapter could be used instead to create extra space between the tire and the MOLLE panel.

Do I need the Accessory Molle Hoop to use the Spare Tire Adapter?

Yes. Our Spare Tire Adapter was designed to mount directly onto the Accessory Molle Hoop. You will receive all the necessary hardware with your purchase of the Tire Adapter.
I see there are three sizes of tire adapters. How do I know which size I need to purchase?

The three adapter lengths are designed to accommodate different wheel backspacing measurements and tire sizes. The correct size depends on how far your spare tire sits from the mounting surface.

Please refer to the backspacing measurement instructions (above) to determine the appropriate adapter length for your setup.

As a general rule, it’s best to keep the tire positioned as close to the vehicle as possible to minimize leverage and maintain optimal weight distribution. However, if you plan to utilize the MOLLE panel for additional gear, selecting a slightly longer adapter can help provide additional clearance between the tire and mounted accessories.
Could I just purchase the largest size adapter and have my tire sit far away from my vehicle?

You definitely could. And when in doubt between two adapter sizes, we recommend sizing up to reduce interference. However, this will affect how far away the tire sits from your vehicle, and you should consider that weight. The best practice is to keep the load as tight as possible.
What is the weight capacity of the Spare Tire Adapter?

The maximum weight capacity of the Spare Tire Adapter is 100 lbs.
Does the weight that I carry on the Spare Tire Adapter count towards the overall weight limit of the Pivot XD?

Yes. Any cargo mounted to the Accessory MOLLE Hoop or the Spare Tire Adapter counts toward the Pivot XD’s total cargo capacity. The Pivot XD has a maximum limit of 350 lbs (when cargo depth is 28” or less). The weight of the hoop or adapter itself does not count — only the gear or spare tire mounted to it does. The combined load on the MOLLE panel and the Spare Tire Adapter cannot exceed 150 lbs. If your mounted rack or cargo extends beyond 28”, the overall maximum capacity is reduced to 250 lbs due to leverage.
What about the actual weight of the Spare Tire Adapter? Does the weight of this product itself count towards the overall weight limit of the Pivot XD?

No. The weight of the Spare Tire Adapter does not count toward the Pivot XD's weight capacity. This is because the tire adapter and the hoop it is attached to are rigid components of the Pivot XD and are not considered cargo.
The Spare Tire Adapter came with some lug nuts. Can I use these to bolt my tire to my vehicle as well?

No! Please use only the lug nuts that came with the Spare Tire Adapter for bolting a spare tire to the accessory product.
