Transfer v2 FAQs
My rack did not come with a lock for the hitch pin. Why and how do I get one?
The Transfer v2 does not come with a locking hitch pin as these racks utilize a security allen and security bolt to tighten it into the receiver, which acts as the security function of that rack. If you would like one, a hitch lock for your Transfer v2 rack can be purchased here:
Is the Transfer v2 rack expandable to carry additional bikes?
Yes, a single bike Add-On is available for the Transfer v2.
Can I add more than one add-on to the Transfer v2 to increase the number of bikes from two to four or one to three, etc.?
No, the Tranfer v2 can only accept one add-on on the single bike universal fit, the two-bike 2”, and the three-bike version.
Does the Transfer v2 add-on work with my original Transfer rack?
No, unfortunately, the Transfer v2 add-on is not backward compatible and cannot be used on the original Transfer single bike rack.
What is the difference between the Transfer v2 and the original Transfer rack.
The Transfer v2 was upgraded to have a larger carrying capacity, with a 50” wheelbase, up from a 48” wheelbase on the original. The Transfer v2 single bike and the two-bike dedicated 2” will accommodate 60lb bikes. Additionally, the single bike universal fit, the two-bike dedicated 2”, and the three-bike will accept an add-on.
What is the difference between the “Universal” and “2 Inch” hitch sizes I see your website?
The universal fit means that the rack will be a 1.25” rack with a 2” adapter included, allowing the rack to fit either a 1.25” rack or a 2” out of the box. The dedicated 2 Inch rack will only fit into a 2” hitch receiver.
Does this rack have a ramp?
No, the Transfer v2 does not have a ramp accessory. The only racks that have a ramp accessory, are the Piston family and NV 2.0 family.
I saw this rack had a recall issued in July of 2024. Has this been corrected for the new racks?
Yes. All the Transfer v2s purchased directly from us or another Kuat retailer should have the updated part. If you are unsure if your new rack has the updated pedal installed, please contact us through our webpage with your serial number and a photo of your foot pedal, and we would be happy to confirm for you.
