IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION

This notice is in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

REASON FOR RECALL:

Kuat Innovations has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in our Transfer v2 Bicycle Hitch Racks manufactured from November 1, 2020 to May 24, 2024. The pivot cams on the affected Transfer v2 Bicycle Hitch Racks can become disengaged, allowing the bike carrier to unexpectedly drop into the lower position. This malfunction could cause a bicycle to fall off the product while a subject vehicle is in motion, as well as injury or property damage to the product, the bicycle, and to the subject vehicle and other vehicles on the road, including potentially a vehicle crash. The defect may occur without warning.

PLEASE STOP USING YOUR TRANSFER v2 RACK IMMEDIATELY, OR TAKE THE TEMPORARY PRECAUTIONS DESCRIBED BELOW TO REDUCE THE CHANCE THAT THE MALFUNCTION WILL OCCUR.

We will provide you, free of charge, with a repair kit to permanently correct the defect. However,if you want to continue to use your Transfer v2 Rack before the defect is permanently corrected, you must secure the foot pedal to the frame of the rack using a Safety Strap provided by Kuat Innovations, as shown in Figure 1 below, while carrying bicycles on the rack. The Safety Strap must be tight enough to prevent the foot pedal from rotating downward. You should check the positioning and tightness of the strap prior to each use of the rack to carry bicycles. The strap is a temporary precaution, and you should still request and install the repair kit described below. Please request a repair kit as soon as possible to permanently correct the defect.

Please carefully inspect your rack to determine if it is one the units affected by this recall. The Batch Number of the affected Transfer v2 racks range from 2045 through 2414. The figures below will assist you in identifying the Batch Number of your rack, which is part of your Transfer v2 serial number. The sticker with your product’s serial number is located on the outside portion of the U-shaped rack body facing the vehicle, as indicated in Figure 2.
